What is an urban hobbit? Well, they are much like regular hobbits - not big travelers, very much homebodies, who like gift giving and shared meals and tending their homes, but with urban hobbits there's a sense that they are more comfortable surrounded by tall buildings instead of tall trees.
Really, hobbits in Minneapolis get the best of both worlds. Lots of trees and green spaces, a wonderful sense of community, and a nice urban backdrop if they spend time in downtown (which I do).
It's a term I came up with to describe myself a few years ago. It seems like there are a handful of other people in the world who have discovered it, too, though I think we've all come by it organically. I honestly can't remember reading it or hearing it anywhere before I started to identify as such. It's just so appropriate for me, and I think sums me up in a fairly concise way.
